Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar is the new Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority

Government of India has appointed Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar as new Executive chairman of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) w.e.f. 19th November 2016.

He has succeeded  Justice Anil R. Dave, who retired from the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice of India Justice TS Thakur is the patron-in-chief of NALSA.

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has been constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 on 5th December 1995.

The primary objective of NALSA is to provide free Legal Services to the weaker sections of the society and to organize Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes.
